NH: With guns drawn and loudly knocking on door, U.S. Marshals follow typical procedure to arrest registrant for not registering

CONWAY – With guns drawn, U.S. Marshals Service agents arrested a sex offender at Millbrook Vill

On Monday, the Sun spoke to Deputy U.S. Marshal Andrew Grillo about the arrest of Jeffrey ____, 29, of Canaan, at the apartments.

“He was wanted out of Grafton County for failing to appear on an arraignment for failing to register as a sex offender,” said Grillo, …

Federal agents and Conway police surrounded the apartments located at 175 Grove St., shortly before noon on Thursday. The marshals approached the buildings with guns drawn and loudly knocked on the door.

A witness, who asked the Sun not to be identified, provided pictures of the arrest. Several show the federal agents with guns drawn.

Grillo said that’s typical procedure.

“Generally speaking, it’s our standard, we tend to hit every building the same way,” said Grillo. “We’re  in the business of finding people who don’t want to be found. Generally speaking, when we enter structures, there’s an elevated risk of danger just based on the fact that we’re going into somebody else’s space.”

Marshals wear vests that ID the agents as Law Enforcement and make sure their badges are on display.

“We knock and announce very loudly that we’re police there to execute a warrant,” said Grillo. “We do that multiple times and allow for appropriate amount of time for somebody to be able to respond to the door.”

OMGosh! Guns drawn for an FTR*?

What buffoons!! That pic is ridiculous!

Why would they not just send him a notice in the mail for an overdue appearance? After all, that is what is done with other administrative issues.

Funny that they needed 7 marshals and local police to capture a person that was ultimately given a personal recognizance bond for an administrative violation.

The title of the article is misleading. That’s not the typical procedure to arrest a man for not registering. The man failed to appear for an arraignment for failure to register. That’s why the Marshalls came in with guns drawn. He already had his chance to appear in court peacefully. Let’s be accurate, folks.

Remember everyone, we are the baba yaga. We are all deviants on the verge of committing atrocities on the public’s most vulnerable, an existential threat to public safety.

They have to show up in force as if you were a terrorist, because that is exactly what they have told the public you are. To do otherwise would be to admit everything they have said is wrong.

These thugs then go home and look their children in the eye thinking they’re making the world safer for them. LOL> right.

Okay, just sent this comment to the USDOJ:

Dear U S. Marshals Service:
This U.S. Marshals’ approach is disturbing and ridiculous. Registrants are well known to be nonviolent. Why would U. S. Marshals approach this “civil infraction” (reminder: S. O. Registries are civil & administrative, NOT punishments, right??) with guns at the ready?? Seriously, it makes you guys look like gun-happy buffoons!
Instead, why don’t you use this guns-at-the-ready approach for known gang members, drug dealers, domestic terrorists cells, and gun violence offenders/criminals??
Why do we so rarely hear of U.S. Marshals doing those types of raids???
Please consider my comment.
Thank you.

“We’re in the business of finding people who don’t want to be found.”

Is someone really not wanting to be found if you “find” them at the last listed address they provided?

ON THE OTHER HAND:

On Feb. 26, 2013, Santa Cruz California Police Sgt. Butch Baker, along with Det. Elizabeth Butler were both shot and killed when they knocked on the door of Jeremy Goulet to question him about a misdemeanor sexual assault. I knew Sgt. Baker, and he was a very decent, good man and a very good policeman. His death, and Det. Butler’s death, were tragic.

If it were you knocking on the door of a suspect, wouldn’t you take some precautions? I agree the Marshall’s go overboard but there must be a “happy medium” somewhere along the way.

Sex offenders aren’t the only ones subject to unfettered LEO.

Vile thugs, and Actual predators. Justice for these so called “Marshalls” would be sending them to the Frontline meat grinder in Ukraine, to experience the violence they are so clearly longing for, but with fair odds! These cowards wouldn’t last a day, they’d be found dead with bullet wounds in their back.
